We have thought to create a photo gallery as a mean of non-verbal communication to tell our new neighbors in Costa Tropical about our lives. At first, we wanted to tell something about the places that are “home” to us, Finland and Italy, using images, and, at the same time, planned this gallery to be an in-progress story telling space.
To start this gallery, we thought to share some images of our life in Finland. The Finnish nature in every season is extremely generous with photographers. On the other hand, Italy has nothing missing in many other ways. Sharing something about our places in the two countries seemed to be a good idea for our blog.

Then, while progressing with the idea, selecting the pictures among thousands of shots taken around Europe, we had a blast and thought: why not sharing this space or create a community around this topic? Not everybody is fond of verbal communication and till now, in Costa Tropical, we have found a lot of people passionate about photography. Who is not today?
We are aiming now to design this page, with the purpose to make it become an interactive spot, where it can be possible to connect with people who would like to share this passion about photography, video making, but also graphic design and visual arts.
A professional photographer background
Where does this idea come from? I, Paola, worked as a professional photographer, in Italy, for some years. The beginning of my professional career has not been easy. I went from “I like to take pictures of landscapes and collecting stolen shots of random people” to someone telling me “you must take this, this, and this type of picture and they have to be so good to sell them”. As customers rule and decide what you will learn 🙂 during those years in which I worked as a photographer I had to learn a bit of everything: weddings, still life, architecture, etc. And I promise it was not always easy.
The best I got from this job was that, in general, I can enjoy any type of photography, and, for a globetrotter as I am, it is obvious to take pictures while travelling. In particular, today I know very well what my real passion as a photographer is: shooting action such as sports, ballet, theater. I still have a strong love for stolen shots and as a portraitist, that is probably my natural inclination for searching the depth into human beings. One thing that working as a photographer has changed a lot about me is that, today, I do not take pictures of random people in the street, and more over I do not share them unless I have a signed consent about it.

Among the most beautiful photographic trip experiences I can remember, Lanzarote 2011. The lunar landscapes, the hard sun hitting on the white sand and the contrast of the black volcanic stone. But also, the architectural wonders of Cesar Manrique. WOW!

I will post few pictures at a time, hoping that readers of this blog, passionate about photography, but also visual arts, graphic design and all what one can feel relate to this idea of building a community, might connect and share their experiences, or start a dialogue, and maybe, one day, we are going to have a community gathering around this website in Costa Tropical.
